Time to Change
Wearegreen is committed to helping make the world a better place to live one step at a time. The products we sell are made from 100% annually renewable resources. Most of the products that we sell are made from corn, and the rest are made from bagasse (sugarcane fiber). How is this done?
Well to keep things simple, for those products made from corn, the starch in corn is used to produce lactic acid, which in turn is converted into a versatile polymer called polylactic acid (“PLA”). PLA is used to make the products that we sell. Because PLA is derived from corn, it is 100% compostable.
Still don’t believe that products can be made from corn? Then learn how plastics are made from corn.
Products made from bagasse use sugarcane fiber leftover after juice extraction. Normally sugarcane fiber is burned after pulping creating air pollution. Like PLA, bagasse is 100% compostable.

What This Means For You
Why are organic plastics so important? What does this all mean?
- Supporting our products means you are purchasing a plastic made from 100% annually renewable resources. To produce PLA, fewer fossil resources are required. Conventional hydrocarbon polymers (regular plastic) use limited reserves of oil and natural gas. Fossil fuels take millions of years to regenerate. 35% of the energy required of PLA is derived from renewable resources, resulting in PLA utilizing 65% less fossil fuel than regular plastic.
- Our products contribute 65% less greenhouse gas than regular plastic. How? Because PLA uses renewable resources and carbon dioxide is removed from the air when corn is grown. Carbon dioxide is considered ‘the most’ significant contributor to global warming.
- Lastly, and most importantly, making the switch to buying our products means that you are, quite literally, investing in our future, and making the world a better place. Please do your part for a better world.
